Margaret Breeds (1925 – 1940)

Margaret Breeds was born in Bromley during 1925. She was the daughter of John Breeds and Margaret Wilson.  In 1940 Margaret was living with her parents at Hill View, London Road in Wrotham. She was killed during the air raid on the Royal Oak Inn, Wrotham Heath on 15 October 1940.

On that fateful night Margaret was working as the kitchen-maid in the pub, and preparing sandwiches with the cook, Mary Ann Fisher, and her employer’s mother-in-law, Mrs Harriet Fread, when a bomb crashed through the ceiling and exploded. Margaret died within a few minutes of the explosion.
